We have a great opportunity for a Nursery Practitioner to join our teamThis nursery has a lively setting with lots of creativity and has a team who are dedicated to the care of children. We are looking for an individual to provide a hands-on, fun, creative and an innovative environment for children.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Ensure that all children attending the setting are kept safe and receive rich and stimulating play experiences appropriate to their age and stage of development.
  • Observe, support and extend children learning.
  • Maintain accurate and effective children’s records.
  • Work in partnership with parents/carers and other family members.
  • Demonstrate good practice with regard to additional needs and inclusion.
  • Ensuring that all legislation in relation to special needs, safeguarding and Health and Safety is complied with.

The ideal applicant:

  • Must be at least Level 2 qualified or willing to undertake in-house training
  • Experience of working with children and families
  • Extensive knowledge of Safeguarding
  • Experience of working in partnership with parents and outside agencies.

Job Types: Full-time

Staff member required for working within our busy nurseries in Tain and Alness term time only. Monday – Friday, hours vary. Duties include a walking bus from local primary schools, planning and carrying out activities. This Job required SSSC registration and a PVG check.

We are seeking a Mrs or Mr Hinch to be a nursery housekeeper; cleaning, tidying, organising our nursery environment in order to keep it squeaky clean and looking lovely. You do not need to be qualified, but experience in childcare would be a bonus.

Your role will include supporting the team with housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry and stock taking.

You must be interested in children, like chatting and playing with them and be able to help create an environment in which they will thrive.

A Disclosure Scotland report is required in line with our safer recruitment procedures.

Modern Apprenticeship in Social Services Children and Young People based in either of our facilities in Alness or Tain.

In order to be accepted on to the Modern Apprenticeship programme you must meet the minimum requirements:

Core skills in Communication and Numeracy at Intermediate 2 would be preferred but is not essential.

Modern Apprenticeships in child care offer young people the opportunity to be employed full time in a nursery while undertaking a Scottish Vocational Qualification level III in Social Services Children and Young People (SSCYP).

Staff Vacancies
Nursery Minibus - Ankerville Nurseries have purchased a minibus to make it easier and more comfortable to transport the children to the various outings. The bus will also be used for the school pick up and drop offs. The bus is fitted with seatbelts and age appropriate car seats and can take up to 14 children.

Staff celebrate At Ankerville with 6 gaining their SVQ in Early Years.

Ankerville Nursery Staff, both Tain and Alness,  are celebrating after receiving their SVQ Level 3 Qualification in Childhood Studies. Members of staff have been awarded the SVQ Level 3 which gives them the opportunity to further their qualifications into degree level should they wish to further progress their career.

Carol MacRae Owner of Ankerville Nurseries said “ I am delighted that so many of my staff have completed their VQ 3. Staff have completed this qualification whilst working, and many having a young family as well.  We have dedicated Assessors who have supported the staff to reach their training goals and I am very proud of them.”
